Hypnosis for Pain Management
If you want to reduce long-term pain, hypnosis may have the answer
Research shows that medical hypnosis can help with both sudden (acute) and long-term (chronic) pain from cancer, burns, and rheumatoid arthritis. It may also ease the anxiety some people feel before surgery.
Hypnotherapy may also support people living with recurring migraines, as well as helping them manage the stress, focus and emotional response associated with tinnitus.
When researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York analysed 18 studies, they found moderate to large pain-relieving effects from hypnotherapy, supporting its use for pain management.
We work together as a team; hypnotist and client, to find the most effective route to better better long term pain management.

Hello, I’m Jonathan Garside. To find out more about how hypnosis can help you to be more in control of pain, book an appointment.
Pain is not simply a peripheral sensation; it’s also how the brain interprets and manages that sensation, and we can do a lot with our brains to modify our levels of discomfort. This can be particularly helpful when managing recurring pain such as migraines or reducing the attention and emotional response given to tinnitus.
Hypnosis allows you to alter perception, to narrow the focus of attention. It also allows you to detach yourself from concerns that might amplify the pain.
At your initial free consultation, you can ask all the questions you want about how hypnotherapy can help you get control of pain, and it gives us the opportunity to find out more about your goals and to plan a strategy that works. It is at this stage that we can work out how many sessions you will need.
Generally, I see most people for 2-4 sessions and the cost is £250 per one hour session. However, that reduces to £225 per hour when you buy a package of four sessions, saving you £100.
It might be the first step to a more comfortable life.
Evidence suggests that hypnosis for pain management and biofeedback are increasing in popularity as ways to treat pain.
Although hypnosis rarely will provide a “cure” for chronic pain, it may help patients self-regulate and influence their pain perception.
At The Hypnosis Clinic, we take time to listen and find out what the underlying reasons behind your pain.
From here, we progress, step-by-step, to find the right technique and focus for you to be in charge of your life again. For now, and the rest of your happier, healthier life.
Of course, hypnotherapy may be all new to you, so have a look at some of the comments other people have been kind enough to write below.

I have so many fantastic things to say about Jonathan, both personally and professionally. I can wholeheartedly recommend this lovely man to anyone considering hypnosis. Jonathan made me feel completely at ease from the very first session, and the whole experience was enjoyable, relaxed and fun. I genuinely felt the benefits afterwards and noticed a real difference in how I handled stressful situations. He’s professional, kind, approachable and incredibly effective. Thank you so much, Jonathan—you’ve made such a positive difference. You’re invited to my wedding in Italy next year! 😊Posted on Google Rumer NewsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jonathan really helped me get through a very challenging concert and I really really appreciate his help and expertise. Thank you JonathanPosted on Google N ATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went to Jonathan for four sessions to help with my claustrophobia, and I’m really glad I did. Each session was incredibly relaxing, especially after the first one, and I came away feeling more courageous about facing my fear rather than avoiding it. The approach focused on creating an internal sense of safety, which I found very helpful, and Jonathan also shared practical tips and techniques that I continue to use. Jonathan is very personable and easy to talk to. I particularly appreciated that he always took time to chat at the beginning of each session, which helped put me at ease and created a comfortable, supportive atmosphere. Overall, I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful and professional hypnotherapist.Posted on Google B LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jonathan is excellent and I would recommend him to others. He has a nice manner with clients that puts you at ease and takes a thoughtful approach to his workPosted on Google Jemma ForteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jonathan’s treatments work like magic. He has helped me immeasurably. It’s almost mystifying how much two treatments have shifted things but I’m choosing not to try and work out how it’s worked but just to be grateful it has. Would recommend to anyone who has something they need to think differently about. Plus he is very kind and puts you at total ease.Posted on Google Simona RizzoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I started hypnotherapy curious about its benefits as an alternative to traditional therapy. I often found my feelings clouded my decisions, diluting my effectiveness at work. After four sessions with Jonathan, I feel genuinely changed, not just with a renewed sense of calm, but with real perspective. While hypnotherapy itself had an impact, it would have been far less effective without the connection Jonathan creates the moment you walk in. I valued our chats and his advice as much as the hypnotherapy itself. I'd recommend the sessions, but also recommend arriving with an open mind, ready to receive, but also to find your own way to apply what you learn. The work doesn't finish when you shut the door; it continues in every moment after. At the end of the day, change comes from us. But Jonathan provided me with strong tools to face challenges in more effective and rewarding ways.Posted on Google Megan GowingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had hypnotherapy with Johnathan to stop smoking/vaping. It’s a normal feeling to feel nervous and apprehensive prior to your first therapy session, disussing all your personal thoughts and feelings and ‘negative flaws’, to someone you have never met. However from our first session, Jonathan made me feel so comfortable, at ease and that there was zero judgement being passed, no matter what I would have said to him. I had many doubts prior to the sessions, as to how effective it would be, however I am simply amazed at the progress I have made. Although recovery is largely dependent on the client seeking the support and the dedication and openness to the process itself, Jonathan was extremely supportive, collaborative and person centred, and has made me feel so confident at ‘going at this alone’. He showed so much genuine curiosity, care, and compassion. I couldn’t have asked for more from the therapy and couldn’t recommend him enough.Posted on Google Marcia BrophyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a really positive experience with my hypnosis sessions with Johnathan. From the moment we began, I felt comfortable, safe, and well guided. Johnathan took time to understand my goals and explained the process clearly, which helped me relax and trust the experience. During the sessions I was surprised by how natural and calming it felt. I stayed aware the whole time, yet deeply relaxed, and the suggestions really resonated with what I’ve been wanting to change. In the days since, I’ve noticed real improvements - it feels like something gently shifted in the right direction. I would absolutely recommend Johnathan to anyone who’s curious about hypnosis or looking for supportive, effective personal growth.Posted on Google Aishah JacobsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Was worth every penny because I’m now smoke free for around 3/4 years now. This is one of the best things I could have done for myself. I highly recommend this treatment to everyone struggling with anything
