Why do I need an initial consultation?

There’s no substitution for meeting someone-face-to-face, and that’s why the initial consultation is essential. It gives you the opportunity to meet the person you will be working with and to be able to assess first hand if you are going to get along well.

You need to be able to trust the practitioner and be sure that they are qualified to treat you, so meeting them really is essential.

What happens in my initial consultationJonathan Garside is the Principle Hypnotherapist at The Hypnosis Clinics in London and Singapore. He describes what to expect when you see him for a free initial consultation:

“In the free consultation, I usually start with a brief COVID checkup so that you can see my temperature is normal, and then I ask to check yours too. The clinic is sanitised between every client (it was before COVID too), and social distancing is maintained throughout. The clinic also has an air purification system too, so you can be comfortable that the atmosphere is safe“.

“After that initial formalities, I generally tell you a little about my background, how I became involved in hypnotherapy and what my qualifications are.“

“Then it’s over to you. You can tell me as much as you want about why you are here, and, of course, your information is treated in the strictest confidence and in a non-judgemental way.“

What happens in my initial consultation“With that information in hand, I can tell you about what hypnosis is, how it works, and how it can help you to achieve the result you’re wanting to achieve. I also tell you if it can’t.“

“Of course, you’ll have some questions too, and I’m delighted to answer any queries you have, so that you feel the process is safe and effective. Of course, you’ll also want to know about fees, and we discuss that too, to come up with a plan that’s efficient and cost-effective“

“I also outline a potential treatment plan and tell you what you should expect by way of results. I also ask you to prepare a ‘Wish List’; 5-10 things you want to achieve from the work we do, written in a positive and proactive way. Then we are all ready to make that first treatment appointment and help you to achieve your goals!“
